Thanks as always, Jon. I want to focus on your comments that "many instructors in Florida are avoiding teaching about race altogether." If liberals are going to win this culture war, they have to be willing to fight for what's right. There is nothing wrong with what they teach - they simply don't make white chidren feel "bad" about themselves as the act proclaims. And resources need to be brought in to support any teacher who gets suspended or fired for teaching what is constitutionally permissable. By not teaching about race, they are letting DeSantis win already. Moreover, liberals should go on the offensive and sue conservative teachers who teach a whitewashed version of American history because it makes Black students feel "bad" about themselves because they are being taught that they are to blame for all the structural racism they "imagine" they are suffering and *they* are to blame for their grandparents being redlined out of the opportunity to pass on generational wealth.
I stand corrected and apologize. Feel free to delete my comment. I unfortunately have heard a few too many commentators in the last few weeks say those very words and when I saw them here my anger was instantaneous. I must've gotten as far as, "and other subjects" when my comprehension stopped.
Thank you for this. I sincerely appreciate it. It's hard for most people to give ground these days, me included. I'll delete your comment and my response. Best., Jonathan
