Great post, many thanks. The Hannity / Carlson texts really bring it to life. Speaking as a Brit, the whole thing is as depressing as it is bonkers. And is one reason why Brits think they’d be worse off in the US despite our current woes, inc. the comparative state of our economies (there is some recent research showing people think they’d be much better off in Australia, a European country etc but not China or the US).

Thanks, James. It does seem as if British conservatives, post-Brexit, turned away from the kind of full-throated denialism that has become the hallmark of the American right.

Tucker Carlson's backstage comments were not that far removed from his his on-air interview with Sidney Powell: "You keep telling our viewers that millions of votes were changed by the software. I hope you will prove that very soon. You've convinced them that Trump will win. If you don't have conclusive evidence of fraud at that scale, it's a cruel and reckless thing to keep saying."

What I believe is way more important than embarrassing Fox News is allowing computers to have anything to do with voting. Voting should be stupidly simple. Paper ballots, receipts, and votes counted by people. Computers are always vulnerable. I think everyone that works with them can understand that. Don't discount the work of the next evil computer genius.

Here is CNN, April, 22, 2022:

"Federal cybersecurity officials have verified there are software vulnerabilities in certain ballot-marking devices made by Dominion Voting Systems, discovered during a controversial Georgia court case, which could in theory allow a malicious actor to tamper with the devices, according to a draft analysis reviewed by CNN."

If computers are involved in voting there can never be confidence in the outcome. PERIOD..
