Reintroduction
And a request
You haven’t heard from me for a long time. One reason is that I spent the fall in London, leading the UNC Honors program there, a delight and a privilege I’m deeply fortunate to have had.
And now back to this.
I won’t dwell in this reintroduction on a lamentation about the current state of things. I’ve had many conversations in the past few months with folks about what can be done to reverse, or at least slow down the breathtaking moral degeneracy we’re living through, with all of its vicious consequences. People everywhere are finding ways to try to do so. I don’t know what I can add to those efforts. But I do have a bit of a readership here. So, for those of you who have found worthwhile some of what I’ve written over the years, I am interested to know what topics, perspectives or modes of writing you’d like to see more of.
I look forward to hearing from some of you and I’ll leave it there for now.
Would love to hear your take on elections in the U.S. as well as U.S. influence of elections globally. Would be great to hear reflections from your time in the UK
Authority figures divide the nation to free power figures to control policy. How can we unite to stop this? Tax strike? National teacher strike, say every Wednesday?
With specific demands
1. Universal gun registration and insurance
2. Enforce the emoluments clause
3. Legislate DACA and a generous and fair immigration policy
4. Limit presidential executive orders and pardons
5. Overturn Citizens United (we aren’t!)
6. Require 5 year Pres and VP tax returns upon accepting a nomination
7. A national voter policy
8. Abolish ICE or restrict it to one mile of the border
9. End the Electoral College
10. National healthcare
